Prequalification statements are solicited for General Contractors interested in bidding on the construction of a New Municipal Complex for the City of Irondale, to be located at 1845 Crestwood Boulevard, Irondale, Alabama 35210 (“Project”). The prequalification process is intended to identify responsible and competent bidders relative to the requirements of the Project. Prequalification forms and Project summary information will be available on or after Thursday, June 26, 2025, by contacting Gardner Architects, LLC c/o Chip Gardner via e-mail at cgard@gardnerarchitects.com. Completed prequalification submittals must be submitted no later than 2:00pm local time on Thursday, July 14, 2025 via email to cgard@gardnerarchitects.com. Only General Contractors who have completed the prequalification process within the stated time limits and are properly licensed in accordance with criteria established by the State Licensing Board for General Contractors under the Provision of Title 34, Chapter 8, Code of Alabama, 1975, as amended, will be considered for prequalification.

Notification of successful prequalified respondents will be issued no later than 2:00pm local time on Monday, August 6, 2025, at which time final Bid Documents will be made available. Additional qualifications and requirements for prequalified General Contractor Bidders will be included in the Bid Documents.

Sealed bids for the Municipal Complex Project will be received by the City Clerk of the City of Irondale, 101 20th Street South, Irondale, Alabama, 35210, until 2:00 PM CST on Wednesday, September 18, 2025 at which time and place they will be publicly opened and read aloud within Irondale City Hall.

No bids will be accepted or opened after the date and time set forth herein.

A MANDATORY PRE-BID CONFERENCE will be held at the Irondale City Hall Council Chamber, 101 20th Street South, Irondale, Alabama 35210, at 2:00 PM CST, on Monday, August 18, 2025, for the purpose of reviewing the project and answering Bidders’ questions. Attendance at the Pre-Bid Conference IS REQUIRED by all prequalified General Contractors. Bids from General Contractors not attending the Pre-Bid Conference will be rejected.

This project consists of:

  • Selective demolition (to structure) of a 3-story, 24,000 SF building to remain (formerly the Marks Fitzgerald building)

  • Full demolition of two additional buildings and existing site work

  • Complete renovation to as-new construction for the 3-story building to remain

  • New construction of a 26,000 SF addition, to include a structural steel frame, masonry/precast concrete cladding, curtainwall glazing system, and high-level interior finishes

  • All-new site grading, paving, landscaping, and other related work as indicated on the Bid and Contract Documents
